In order to promote ourselves, encourage more member participation, and communicate with those not yet members of our group, we have decided to mail a postcard out to all current and past members on a quarterly basis.

1st Quarter Postcard
Beginning January 5th, I will take a handful of postcards to the local libraries, Woodlands Welcome Center and other public places. This is just the first step taken to increase WAL’s visibility in the community and to remind others and ourselves of our mission, which is: “…to further the cause and interest in the visual arts through teaching, programs, demonstrations, exhibitions, and community involvement.
WAL is organized exclusively for educational purposes and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

My sister and I have not been together for Christmas in several years. I guess we went crazy with excitement and decided to buy elf pants and dress up with reindeer antlers to commemorate the occasion. We thought we were soooooo cute! Now, after seeing the photos I’ve decided I wasn’t as cute as I thought I was and I need to LOOSE SOME WEIGHT! Good GAWD!
Let me take this moment to remind everyone that leaving your camera lying around is not a good idea. My silly brother-in-law seized on the opportunity to perfect his self-portrait taking skills! Goof ball!

Next, we drove to Huntsville for my friend’s graduation from Sam Houston State University. She has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, Minor in Political Science. After she walked across the stage we went out to eat at Crabbydaddys in The Woodlands. Food was VERY good, service was great and the friends and family were a special treat, especially this time of the year.
Congratulations, Lisa! You have a degree and many friends and family who love you and are proud of what you have been able to accomplish.

The morning after the Polar Express we celebrated Christmas with Kyleigh and Hannah. Ahhhh, to be a kid these days….Christmas lasts a week with extended families, joint custody and everyone’s hectic schedules. You have to squeeze the photo op in when you can!
We have a budding artist and a child who wants to be a mother. She is holding the baby that poops and pees. WHAT! Why would you want that? But, she loved it and we couldn’t pry it out of her arms…at least, not until it peed on her!

We had so much fun! The Polar Express train runs from the train station in Palestine, TX to Rusk, TX and takes approximately 40 minutes. During the trip you are treated to hot chocolate, candy and dancing waiters…..enough to propel any child from mild hyperactivity to super-charged delirium!
If you’d like to learn more check out their website: The train ride is inspired by the award winning book by Chris Van Allsburg.
